C501 Wale On Lan, is a small tool that enable you to wake up a powered off computer connected on your Ethernet network.
This program can create a MAC address list, so that you can use them easily later to wake up a computer.
Moreover, on UNIX operating systems, as Ubuntu, c501 Wake On Lan can auto detect MAC addresses (using the arp table).

Binaries are programs that can be directly used on your computer. If you just want to try or use Wake On Lan, it's a good choice.
If you don't know your operating system name, then you are probably on Windows.
Using the PPA is recomended since you will receive updates automaticaly from your update manager.
You only need to install the PPA (Personal Package Archives) once. In order to do that, you just need to lunch this command :
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:colingille/freshlight && sudo apt-get update
Then, you can simply use this apt-url to install Wake On Lan : apt://c501wakeonlan.
